Dear Kelsey Rose, Happy Anniversary! It’s been four years since I watched you turn that corner in that breathe-taking white dress and honestly, it feels like it was yesterday. The last four years have been nothing short of remarkable. Although there are truly no words to describe just how special these last four years have been, I figured I’d try anyway in this letter…
Not only have we been married for four incredible years but you have put up with me for over 12 years now. TWELVE YEARS. I don’t have a trophy to give you but you deserve one.
But all joking aside, the last four years have been the best four years of my life. We built a house together, we made it a home and brought the world’s most beautiful daughter into this home. Watching you walk down that isle took my breathe away but watching you become a mother is more incredible than I ever imagined possible.
We’ve had our challenges but nothing will ever change the way I love you.
Now, I need to come clean about something…
The truth is, I was scared to get married. Not because I was afraid to commit to you or because I had any shadow of a doubt that you were the one I wanted to spend forever with but because I wasn’t sure I deserved you.
As you know, we started dating when I was 19 and I was as dumb as 19 gets…
I made countless mistakes but you never gave up on me. Then I joined the Army and the Army sent my overseas for two years and what did you do? You waited for me. You supported me. You loved me. And once again, you never gave up on me.
Truthfully, I’m not sure what I did to deserve that type of love from you but I promise you this, I thank God every day for it.
The truth is, I thank God every day for you. I couldn’t imagine life without you.
Looking back on our wedding day, I remember everyone telling me how that day would be the best day of my life but they were wrong. Every day with you since has been (yes, even when we fight).
Marriage isn’t always easy but I wouldn’t trade a single day with you for anything else in the world. The last four years have been incredible but I can’t wait to continue building this life together with you.
