We teach ourselves a very important lesson as babies without even realizing it. We crawl until we learn to walk. We walk until we learn to run. We run until we learn to sprint. Regardless of how ugly our first steps may have been, without them we would never learn to walk, run or sprint.
I know that once set my sights on something, that’s it. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, I know I will achieve what I set out for but the hardest part is getting started. I often become consumed in waiting for the perfect moment to take that first step. I forget the lesson I taught myself as a kid that regardless of how ugly the first step may be, it is necessary if I want the process to continue.
We sit back and wait for the perfect moment but it never comes. Now is that moment to take your first steps towards making your dreams a reality. As babies we fall countless times while trying to take that first step and but each time we get back up we become that much closer to achieving our goal.
Eventually we must acknowledge that we are as ready now as we will ever be and begin taking action without letting the fear of failure take over. Failure gives us the opportunity to learn. It won’t always be pretty. We aren’t created to be perfect. We will fall flat on our faces time after time but all that matters is that we get back up and try again. We cannot be afraid to fail. We must remind ourselves of what we said in the beginning; it doesn’t matter how long it takes, we will accomplish what we set out to achieve.
Trust the process enough to take the first step because then it becomes easy. A step turns into two, three and four. Before we know it we’ve hit our stride and it’s off to the races!
Don’t wait for the perfect moment because it will never come. Trust yourself enough to try. Love yourself enough to try again. Live long enough to become victorious.
