Why I LOVE being the underdog…

I stand firm in my belief that the only limitations that exist in our lives are the ones that we set for ourselves, or ALLOW others to set for us.  Other people will always try to set limitations for us to mirror the ones they have set for themselves.  People will always try to tell us what we are NOT capable of and personally, I LOVE THAT.

I love hearing someone tell me what they think is the best course for my life.  Specifically, I love hearing someone tell me what they feel is out of reach for me, especially since my injury.  Three back surgeries later, there is plenty of room for people to tell me what I “can’t” do anymore and it’s like music to my ears.  I love when someone roots against me.  I love when someone looks me in the eyes and tells me what my life will be…BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO CLUE.

Life will always throw us obstacles to test our resolve, faith and strength.  God has a way of challenging our belief in ourselves.  However, our strength has nothing to do with how many times we fall.  True strength is measured in how many times we get back up.  That is where limitations come into play.  How many times are you willing to get back up and fight back in life?  Life may knock me down time and time again, but on the day that I die I will look back and laugh knowing I kicked life’s ass.

Most importantly, in those moments where you feel like you have reached your threshold or truly believe you aren’t capable of anything more, look around you.  Look to those who rely on you.  Look to all those people who have helped you get to where you are.  I assure you that you will find strength in your heart you never knew you had.

Don’t give up.  The world needs more people who laugh at the thought that “limitations” will control their fate.  I love the days when the odds are stacked against me because it gives me the valuable opportunity to show the world who I really am.  Life is not about finding the path of the least resistance, it’s about creating your own path to get you exactly where you want to go, regardless of how long it takes.
